RESEARCH

Cardiovascular disease is the number one disease in the world and second only to cancer in Japan. Especially in Japan, which is facing in aging society, elucidation of its pathophysiology and countermeasures are urgent issues. In recent years, advances in devices and drugs have provided us with a variety of countermeasures against cardiovascular disease, but with the exception of some familiar-onset diseases, the underlying genetic factors has not been effectively used for disease onset prediction, prevention and treatment. We are researching to analyze genetic information related to clinically important indicators such as the onset of cardiovascular disease, therapeutic effect and prognosis, and with the goal of feeding back the results to the clinic. Although our laboratory starts from human genome data, we will work on other medical big data such as omics information, images and electronic medical record data regardless of the type.
